My Reviews
I think that David Sedaris must have written another book prior to this one. Maybe that book discussed his interesting life, this book was extremely difficult to get through. If this was not a book club choice I would not have finished the book.
This was an easy read. Everytime I though that I figured out what would happen, I was surprised by another twist in the story. The characters were a little unrealistic and I do not belive people would get away with many of these things in real life, but it you can get past the unbelievability then this is a good book.
This book really kept my interest, I finished it in 3 days! It deals with parental expectations and how they effect a teenager with depression and far too much pressure to be perfect. Very easy and quick read.
I dreaded having to finish reading this book. The descriptin for the book made it sound very interesting and unique, but it was not. The first three-quarters of the book were painfully slow and the ending was far too neat.
This was a really quick read! It made for a really good discussion with the rest of the group about friendship, growing up, and how many hardship a friendship can handle.
I read this book in 3 days, it was very well written. I felt like the main character was sitting next to me and telling me a story. Good discussion with the group about how we would handle the hardships that this character faced.
This book was a quick read. Interesting topic but not very much to discuss with the other members of the book club.
Only one of the five members of our book club finished this book. It sounded like an interesting concept, but the lives and emotions of the three women were not discussed in enough details. This book was more like reading a history lesson on China. I learned some interesting facts about the Chinese government but there were way to many details about the govenment and not enough about the women themselves.
Easy to read and much to discuss
Anyone with a dad who always has something to say about everything will enjoy this book. It only took me about an hour and a half to read and I laughed out loud at least 15 times! could lead to lots of discussion about all the crazy things your dad says.
