Really enjoyed the book. Period story of early 1900's and Ireland fighting for freedom. Enjoyed the description of small villages, wool mills, Irish family life. Good story and romance.
Nice story but fairly predictable and a little too "all-sewn-up." Main characters a little flat and slightly underdeveloped but the author has serious potential in this department and does human interaction well.
Really enjoyed the story of the birth of Northern Ireland. Rich with characters, suspense, religion, rolling hillsides, traditions and love. A little slow to start but found it truly engaging once past the intro.
Our book club discussion on this book was very interesting as many had ties to Ireland. The story typifies the time and place and although, a tad predictable, it was a great read.

you can read the summary for yourself. The characters can be annoying at times -- i do agree with some of that criticism. And you want to shake Eileen and make her realize what is going on around her. But the story of the turn of the century and irish issues is a good one and worth the read.
