This book is unlike any memoir we've read. A brilliant young woman, disabled by TB, develops into an optimistic, acutely honest, richly creative woman. She takes chances, pursues dreams, loves fiercely despite odds against her. This character will stay with me.
Prepare to be left with questions. Detailed facts and logistics are left out in favor of the beautiful prose of Katharine's observations of the scenery, events and people who interested her. She died before she could write enough for us to know her fully. Not an autobiography. It's a memoir and a very satisfying, enlightening one!
This is a poignant autobiography of a woman whose spirit was much greater than her physical deformities.
