So much food and so little time! The story of how a chef is born. Well told tale of Hassan and his ascent up the ladder to becoming a 3 star chef. Born in India, praised by the French ~ quick read.
We found the book full of information about the Indian life styles and foods. In addition we talked about the qualities that are innate in a 'chef' as opposed to a cook. There's are not only aspirations to owning a restaurant and a good menu but a solid business sense as well. We are looking forward to seeing the movie.
I found the book inspiring. The descriptions of the food was not only visual, it seemed you almost could smell it. It made me appreciate those who work with their hands and practice their craft until all the details are inpeccable. And the message of how remaining connected to family & friends and bringing your life experiences to your work can not only help you not to lose your way in this world but can be the muse of your success.
Well written with twists and great information. The character development was wonderful.
