Like the title says - fragments of a young Chinese girl's life. It didn't tell much of a story. One of the members of our book club thought the author was on drugs when she wrote it.
Book follows title - too fragmented and going nowhere. She seems to ramble on without any direction
I struggled in writing the above summary, as the book was one of the strangest I have ever read. Somehow the author did keep me engaged and I am not sure why. Choose this book if you are looking for something really different knowing that it is not for everyone!
This book really was 20 fragments. It seemed like more of a collection of short stories, most being fairly pointless.
It felt like you were being told stories by a casual observer that liked to hear themselves talk. The main character was not very strong or overly vulnerable. She seemed to just exist and that was it.
Found this book to be a disappointment. Makes one wonder how some authors even get published.
It was interesting and gave insight into Chinese culture but just not enough meat for an hour's worth of book club discussion.
I found this book slow moving and hard to read. It just didn't hold my interest.
