I read this whole series years ago and fell in love with John Carter... Of course, the story is wonderfully told and full of action and adventure. The female characters are strong.
Please, please, don't let the movie influence you. The books are infinitely better! I bought this kindle edition as my books have all been given away and I wanted to revisit Barsoom.
