A lot going on this in this novel and it is interesting how it unfolds. I liked the contradiction - modernization vs. tradition, especially in Nayir - turns away from a woman's exposed face but owns a cell phone ?? I did struggle with the treatment of Muslim women.
Good book. Insightful in that it taught me about how in Saudi women are treated. Took too long to figure out "who did it". I had it figured out way before the end.
A window into a culture so different from America. The author captures the claustrophobic, charged atmosphere of life in Saudi Arabia through the unfolding of a crime. The book is the first of three and totally addictive.
