Set in Biblical times, and reminiscent of The Red Tent, this is a well-written, informative, and interesting account of the time of Abraham and Lot.

Full disclosure, I am T.K. Thorne\'s sister, but even if I wasn\'t I would still be her number one fan. I was worried about this novel--how could she possibly write another historical biblical fiction that was as good as her debut, NOAH\'S WIFE? Again, she had me at the first paragraph. Her novels are filled with bits of wisdom and humor and there is always a bigger picture to discuss. I found her author notes (available on her website tkthorne.com) to also be fascinating.

T.K. Thorne's new novel _Angels at the Gate_ is bold and insightful historical fiction. Don't expect the simple recounting of a bible story here. Yes, Lot's wife (Adira/Adir) is the central character, but her story is the product of the author's very creative mind. Thorne's extensive on-site research gives this book a genuine air of authenticity. Adir herself gives the book it’s strong and romantic soul. This brave, resourceful woman lives as a man to protect her freedom, but “The Angel’s” alure is strong. If you are a fan of historical fiction, this is a must read!

It takes place in 1738 BCE so it is Biblical in theme. My book club members all gave it a thumbs up. Well written and the context of the story was beautiful. We think this should be read by all book clubs, as the discussions went on for a longer period of time than usual. There were so many aspects to the book. Wonderful wonderful.
