The book was difficult at first to keep track of all the characters and their spouses and children. Stick with it it gets better.

OUr entire group hated this book! Most didn't even finish. I finished but could have cared less about the outcome.

Our group enjoyed this book, and found it easy to read.

The group really liked the book once they got into it. It does start out kind of slow. Is anyone interested because we now have six copies of the book?

This was our book club's first book. It helped us to get an idea what book clubs are all about. Almost everyone related to at least one of the characters in the book. And their stories gave us a lot to talk about. The only drawback to the book was that there are so many characters that it was challenging to keep the names and stories straight. But it was worth the work.

Members identified with the characters and thought it was a light read. Character identification was confusing and associations were difficult at first. The ending was too pat and much of the book could be skimmed.

It was good to see how the characters eventually became closer as the book progressed. But it was slow and not much of a page turner. It was too long and the author could have cut 100 pages and still have been effective. It was good to read about real women and all their relationships.

Book was basically a good and fun read. It took a little time to get used to the "Queen's English" and British terms that appear throughout. Ladies of the "Reading Group" are an interesting group that manages to go through almost every trial and tribulation possible during a one year period. Once you get a feel for which character is friends with which other character, who is married to who, etc. then it is easier to like the book. The book centers around each month of the year with a different book being "reviewed" each month. The actual book reviews and comments are secondary to the story. The real story is the events in the womens' lives and how they come together to help each other.

This book seems confusing in the beginning because there are many characters to keep straight. Stick with it though, by page 100 you'll know who they all are. Interesting and honest look at women's relationships. Would have been good for discussion if more of our book club would have read it.
