This book was painful to read. It was like reading the journal of a very boring, pretentious, self absorbed person. His friends were as uninteresting as Nathaniel P. There wasn't one character i liked or cared about. I kept reading hoping there had to be some point to this book. There wasn't.
I loved this book. I lived in Brooklyn and worked in publishing when I was in my 20s. Adele Waldman is a brilliant new writer. She captured the vain, pretentious, selfish character of Nathaniel beautifully. Nathaniel is the poster child for narcissistic personality disorder.
