I didn't dislike it, but it was slow and depressing to read about this slice of life of the women of rich society and those who wanted to be or stay in the rich society at the turn of the century. I felt sad for the main character, that the life she was brought up to try to attain had such devestating consequences, and her in ability to see another alternative. The majority of the book club did not like or did not finish the book.
