Strong main character. Interesting character interactions. Easy to read.

An interesting short book with lots of twists!

WOW! What a great story. Loved the way in which author told her story, felt like I was sitting on a great front porch with a glass of sweet tea, discussing a situation with a dear friend. Characters were dynamic.

Recommend to anyone that wants to read a great story. Short but powerful.

Southern story telling.

Good things come in small packages. This little book hits a home run. Lots of story lines going on that all tie to the main story. The character development is excellent. A story set in the 70's regarding, race, murder, lies, & cover-ups and how that impacts Ora's life forever.

Shorter book than a lot of book club reads. The story was well written and the characters were easy to follow.

This is a bittersweet story about a woman's growth as she ages.

Short and sweet, but it's story and subject stay with you for a long time. Very insightful of race relations in the South in the mid-late 1960's
yet in a very kind way.

One of the best books books we have read this year. It will stay with you for a very long time. Try doing the immersion reading, the Southern accent of the narrator really draws you into the story.

A good southern fiction with a lot of surprising turn of events all the way through to the end.

In 1976, in a small southern town, a white, childless widow hires a homeless black man to mow her lawn and do odd jobs. When he is around, the mothers in the neighborhood make their children come inside. A murder occurs and an innocent man is sent to prison for the rest of his life.
