I never knew there were people like this living up in the mountains speaking like they did.
It was sad but interesting to learn a different way of living that was real for some.
3.5??. I always love tales about Appalachia & this debut novel by Leah Weiss continued that love. Vivid characters & a harsh & wild storyline combine to tell the story of a young girl trapped in her circumstances but seeking something more. There are a lot of minor storylines running through this novel that could be expanded into additional books. Interested to read more from this author.
Loved all the different perspectives of the story from the different characters.
Appalachia in 1970, the story centers around a few people living in a small community. Each chapter is told by a different person, but it all blends in effortlessly. The characters come to life and the prose is excellent.
