"Highly recommended book, great to read with Alcott's "Little Women"" by ckwini (see profile) 10/20/05

I really enjoyed reading this book. There was much food for thought as the three sisters discover what it means to be independent. I think the topics in this novel are great sources for discussion. I think it would also be great for a book club to read "Little Women" by Alcott along with this novel to compare similarities. While this book isn't my book club favorite, I highly recommend it.

"Great reading continuing The Little Women theme" by tiddyti (see profile) 10/19/05

I found this to be a well-written, and interesting novel of Meg, Jo and Amy's life when they divorce their parents and move to New Haven.

"There were aspects of this book I didn't like, but others did, and it provoked good discussion." by nancyluvsbooks (see profile) 11/03/05

This book had a good premise, and I enjoyed the story. There is a twist in the book, however, which I did not like. The real author has made one of the sisters in the story the fictional author of this book. The other two sisters are reading the book (apparently at the same time the reader is), and there are "author's notes" by the fictional author interspersed throughout the book where she is discussing and/or arguing with the other two sisters about what is written. I found this distracting, gimicky, and unnecessary. These "notes" interrupted the flow of the book too much for me (somewhat like actors in a movie pausing and arguing about how they are making the movie, then going back into the story). The story itself could have carried the reader's interest without it. However, other readers enjoyed this twist, and it provoked good discussion.
