Interesting of women\\\\\\\'s choices in 1800\\\\\\\'s.
Our book club loved this one for the story as well as for the history of the stage coach days. We had fun talking about why the main character chose the life she led, and just how much of the story was fact and how much fiction. A great read!
This book was an easy read. I love what she went through personally but mostly the life of the Whip.
Slow start but once you get into it it's really interesting and also unexpected.
Our group did not think the writing was up to par.
This book is about survival, dreams lost, and dreams found. It\'s about how a woman can survive in a man\'s world. After a slow start, it was very interesting. We learned a lot about what women had to go through in the Gold Rush days. We enjoyed learning about whips and stagecoaches.
This is a fictional depiction of a real person. Definitely get a feeling for this era in U.S. history and a renewed understanding of how much women have had to overcome. Our book club really enjoyed reading it and had a great discussion (and food/drink).
It was a great contrast between a woman's life in the 1880s and now. She was a liberated woman before their time.
Several members sad this book had some really sad effects on them. The Whip starts out a bit slow and you know that there is more to come. It pays to hang in there. Naïveté and street smarts are evident even in the same person!
Loosely based on a true life story, it was fast paced and a quick read which I couldn't put down. I recommended it to our book club and everyone loved it! Plus, we live in Northern California where most of the story took place in the late 1800's so the cities where she/he drove the stagecoach were familiar to us. Great read!!
All nine of our members enjoyed this book. Charlott had an amazing life story which enabled us to have a good hour long discussion about strengths, forgiveness and the times in which she lived.
