--“Some things aren’t meant to be. . .but some things are. We just have to be smart enough to recognize them.” How do we know when something is God’s idea and not ours? Charlotte, a modern woman, and Emily, in 1912, both struggle with decisions about love and life and family. They are tied together by a wedding dress made for Emily and found in an old trunk by Charlotte. Charlotte traces the dress back to two more former owners of the dress, Hillary in 1968 and Mary Grace in 1939 who help her in her search for sense of identity and belonging. Beautiful story of the special dress and the four brides who wore it.
I thought this book was well written. I couldn't help myself, I was assigned to read a certain amount for our next gathering and I just kept going. It was not like I thought at all. You get an idea of what is happening in the first few chapters but then the author takes you on a fantastic ride. Though God and faith are mentioned in the story, I believe those topics could have been expanded on.
This book enabled many of us to go back in time and share our experiences our memories of weddings I our past clear back to our grandparents.
Felt this book was written for young adult girls. Not very believable and I didn't realize until I started reading that it was Christian genre. It's an OK story, but I wouldn't recommend it for a book club.
This ia a fun romantic summer read. I love all the stories about the brides who wear the dress. I was not expacting the ending but it was very sweet.
