Read it, but don't go to bed alone. I can't wait for the second in the series.
OMG, this book was amazing! The drama, the suspense, the betrayal. Holly hell I just wanted to grab Karolin and punch her in the face! Ha-ha
The story starts out as twins Karolin and Miles Bremen agree to a cruel and unbelievable plan. Karolin cannot conceive children so she wants her brother to marry, impregnate the wife and have a baby, then divorce said wife, get full custody and raise the baby with her. Miles being the loving big brother can deny his sister nothing so he agrees. Karolin finds the perfect woman, Adelia Lindstrom because she strongly resembles both twins.
With this devious plan in play, Karolin meets Adelia and invites her a party. Adelia is grieving from the loss of her parents who both died in a car accident but she goes to the party anyway just to be polite and she meets Miles and quickly falls hard for him. Things quickly progress and they get married. On their honeymoon Adelia finds out she is pregnant.
But the story is quickly changing, Miles is also falling in love with Adelia. He is getting everything he ever wanted. A real family, the woman he loves, and children. But Karolin is not having it.
My, my, my…how the story is spinning!!
OMG I cannot wait to get my hands on book 2!!
I’m telling you it’s like watching a soap opera in full swing. It was so damn good!! I know it started out wrong but I’m so cheering for Adelia and Miles!!!
This book was called an erotic book. I did not find it all that erotic. Yes there were some hot sex scenes but not really BDSM scenes other than Miles saying he "owns" Adelia. When this book first started, I wasn't sure I was going to like it. Number one is it throws in conversations in different language. Didn't have a clue what was said. It also seemed to jump from scenario to scenario and did not tie them into together. The first scenario was of Miles's interaction with an escort. While it did show Miles has a heart, I don't think it really added anything to the story. He told the escort he would pay for her schooling as long as she got out of this business. You would think then this would have been tied into the story later on but it didn't. The next section dealt with the accident (or was it) of Lars and Faye. The author starts to pull you and make you wonder if Miles had anything to do with it. Miles was going over a meeting he had that day and was wondering how he was going to keep the scientist (Lars) on board. The next scene you meet Adelia, Lars and Faye's daughter. She has lived a sheltered live and is devastated at the loss of her parents. She decides she must make her parents proud and continue with her horse competitions. During a competition, she meets Karolin, who introduces Adelia to her brother Miles. Once these two meet, there is a world wind romance. After only a couple meetings, Miles declares he has fallen for Adelia and asks her to marry him. This was way too fast. Even at the wedding ceremony Miles does not tell Adelia he loves her. There was too much detail about the horse world. It tended to drag on and after a while I really didn't care and skipped over it. As the story continues, you begin to get clues this marriage isn't all it seems to be. But Adelia is none the wiser. Miles is arrogant and somewhat of a bully. He tells Adelia she belongs to him and almost forces her to have sex with him. Adelia justifies this behavior. There is a weird almost obsessive relationship between Miles and Karolin. In fact he allows her and her boyfriend to join them on their honeymoon. A little strange if you ask me. After overhearing a few conversations Adelia begins to feel Miles may have had something to do with her parents death and learns why he actually married her. It was quite a shocker. Needless to say Adelia leaves Miles. But he does not allow her to take her children and tells her if she goes through with the divorce she will never get custody. She know he has the money and power to make this happens. This sends her into a deep depression. She finally enlists the help of the detective (David) who was working on trying to prove her parents death was not an accident. He is able to dig up damaging information on Miles business dealings. On the day of the custody hearing, Miles is given a copy of what was found and he immediately drops his request for primary custody. Karolin is beyond angry. But why is this? They are her children...so she thinks. Over time David and Adelia begins a romantic relationship. I was not aware there was going to be a cliffhanger. But I did go out and buy the second book so I could see how it ended. Overall, story started a little slow, with little direction but once you get to the section after the wedding it tends to pick up.
