Several in our book club loved this book and several didn't finish it. Very mixed reviews from our group. I liked it especially because it is timeless. The advice she gives about life in the 50's is good for today.
A timeless treasure- First published 68 years ago, the tenets of this book still hold true regarding relationships, simplicity, aloneness and ultimately what it means to flourish in this life we have. This is one to read over and over again.
Anne Morrow Lindbergh was remarkably ahead of her time by advocating for simplicity in life. We could relate to the feelings that modern day conveniences lead us to be even more busy, and unfocused on the important things in life.
Our Book Club members felt that we could all relate to the shells in each chapter, and the accompanying stage of life. I especially liked the Moon Shell chapter that encourages solitude at points in our lives. Lindbergh encourages readers to “relearn to be alone.” It is truly good for the soul, and to refresh yourself for the demands from other relationships.
