We had fun talking about all the characters and their plights.
This book is a combination of 36 stories that Maeve Binchy had in her files prior to her death in July 2012. It's very interesting and each story would have made a wonderful novel but it didn't lend itself for a good book club discussion. We all miss her and very much enjoyed all of her other books. Highly recommend Firefly Summer and Minding Frankie.
Really enjoyed \"Minding Frankie\" & \"A Week in WInter\". The change in genre to short stories is more challenging and was a nice change of pace. Some are quite endearing, others surprising, all enjoyable.
As a reader, remember that this is a collection of vignettes (perhaps written simply as ideas for other books that she never used.) Sone of the stories are comical, others heartbreaking. It's not a book that one should read in one sitting -all of the vignettes will jumble together.
We felt these were short storie someone put together just after her death to make money. Some of our members wished the stories would intertwine but they were all individual. Very interesting cross watch of different types and classes in Ireland today.
