The story presents a difficult topic in a believable and almost charming way by describing events through a slave catcher's eyes and language. The speech patterns of the Southerners were accurate and natural; the colloquialisms were delightful. The slave catcher transitions from aloofly doing a job to empathizing with slaves. A classic confrontation between following the law vs following morals is part of the ending of the book. A unique, entertaining, and enjoyable book.
