I liked the way this book made me feel. It took me down my nostalgia road. Where I was, who I was with in many historical events. M.O. Walsh writing was pleasant in my mind. You could say it was a coming of age meets mystery. The beginning was smooth, middle slightly slow, ending great pick up. I can\\\\\\\'t wait to discuss it at my book club this week. Without no spoilers it is about a young teenager in Baton rouge who becomes a suspect in the rape of the girl across the street who he is obsessed with. Definitely a good read. I guess M.O. stands for MOVE OVER Walsh is coming through.
The opening reminded me of "The Lovely Bones" as a horrible event is revealed with one of the "suspects" narrating the story. There were parts that were horrible to read (SPOILER ALERT: dog cruelty) and all the "data" served as evidence as to how sick some people are and the maladaptive behaviors they use as an expression of their illness. Oy!
The book was expertly written about being a teen boy and growing up during middle/high school. The descriptive language of childhood friends and adventures was spot on. All kids are subject to things parents are unaware and this book reminded me as a mother I have to trust my boys with life. It was a great book. My review is not touching on the story line so trust me, the story weaves older childhood experiences with the story line very well.
