I have not read anything else by Thompson, so I can't say if this is good based on his other works. I really enjoyed this book. Thompson's Gonzo style drew me in to the story, and Paul Kemp's observations on the world around him while he sat around, full of rum and strong opinions, but without any motivation to actually do anything, were highly entertaining, and sometimes shocking. A good way to dip your toes in the water of Gonzo journalism and Hunter S Thompson without getting in over your head of the drug-addled world of Fear and Loathing.
With all of the other great books out there, don't waste your time on this one. It's an early book by HS Thompson, and a drunken romp thru PR. Maybe guys would like this, but I just didn't get the point - or relate in any way to the characters.
