"Interesting read. Tiffany makes me really appreciate the problems of my 13-year-old." by raymonds (see profile) 10/25/05

Overall, we felt it was a fun and easy read. It kept us entertained and we all thought the writing was quality. A few of us had trouble with the author's ego, but we all decided he'd have to be pretty confident to take on a teenager!

Comments from our book club members:

I enjoyed reading the book. and felt o.k. in sending it to my 14 yr old granddaughter as I felt she
would like it too.It does make one stop and think about life and times in this century. Although
they may not be to far removed from the last one.

I enjoyed the book. It communicated the frustrations on raising a teenager, including how to have a personal life while you are attempting to raise the child. I didn't know if I would appreciate hearing about "gay" lifestyle but it wasn't pushed in your face. you could focus on the child/adult relationship and not on the sexual topics.
Easy to read - fast read.
Didn't dig too deep in anything, but covered the main feelings of the people involved.

I thought the writer was incredibly self-centered and self-congratulatory. In fact, he was so full of himself that there was very little room in the book for a reader. I had to put it down and walk away so I could start on my own memoir in the same vein: "Why I Am the Best Parent Who Ever Lived." (The working subtitle is: "I Am Also the Coolest Straight Woman You Will Ever Meet.")
I thought the cover design was great, though.

I wasn't at the meeting, but I found the book a little pretentious. I felt that it was something only a person who describes himself as hip could write. If you call yourself hip, you can bet that you're not.
It was "OK" but I didn't fall in love with the story mainly because I felt the author thought way too much of himself.

The book was a quick read. At times it felt like it was more about the author than the niece. Would love to see it from Tiffany's perspective. I enjoyed it and it was fun to read.
