I felt the characters lacked any depth and subtly in their personality description. It was if the author had written a caricature of upper class men, middle class housewives and country dwelling folk based purely on stereotypes, rather than developed the characters in any kind of soshisticsted way .
The premise of the book was ok but the writing very weak.
I struggled to get through this book. I found the character's were not well developed enough that you couldn't empathise/sympathise with them. The storyline was predictable. Maybe I am missing the purpose of what this book was supposed to portray as I know others in my book club who loved it.
