Stephen King has a great ability to invent, craft, spin out, and describe a story in a way that is professional, substantive, emotional, clever and engaging--all at the same time. He is a gifted writer who knows how to make his stories easy to read, but also literary. How does he do it? Well, he tells you--in a way--in this book. Before each story he writes about how he writes. He gives deep and valuable insight into his own writing process. It is a goldmine for writers and critics.
Each story is rather disturbing. Some include supernatural phenomenon, some are totally realistic. Someone dies in every story; at the beginning, in the middle, at the end, or all three!
