An engaging story with very interesting characters. It was neither as dark or unhappy as I expected it to be. A good story.
Living in Northern Vermont, often referred to as the "Northeast Kingdom," I felt a real connection to the people and the land of Kingdom county. Mosher tells the story without making the usual type casting stereotypes I've come to expect (and resent) with rural stories. Quick read, good discussion.
A dark story about a time in history we're too quick to forget. As a native New Englander, I really appreciated the "authentic" dialogue, too. This was my first book by Mosher, who sadly passed away recently, but won't be the last.
