Another Piece of my Heart is a GREAT book for discussions. While I don't think I would have read it for myself I LOVED it as a book club book. There are so many real life characters in this book that it is easy to love and hate them all. My club got this as a free book from BookMovement! we loved and hated it laughed and screamed. I highly recommend as a group book read to see how other interpret the characters!
Our book club won this book from Book Movement. We all enjoyed the book and thought the characters were very real. Some parts seemed predictable but overall we enjoyed the book and had a good discussion surrounding the characters and some of the decisions they made.
This is a story of family, love, and motherhood. There is something for everyone in this book, especially if you have gone through a divorce and have had to deal with step-children. Love is sometimes not enough to hold together a marriage especially when the family you marry into have children unwilling to accept the new partner. A wonderful book that adds much to the story of love and family. Just when you think you know what will happen, there is a new surprise. Women will enjoy this book.
JUST OK. NOTHING NEW THAT HASN'T ALREADY BEEN EXPLORED TIME AND TIME AGAIN IN THE LAST DECADE. GOOD, FAST READING...NOT BOOK CLUB MATERIAL.
Another Piece of my Heart by Jane Green
After a really rocky start – bad grammar, faulty time line, characters that change personality with the page numbers – Another Piece of My Heart finally finds a real story line by about page 100. A teenager who is selfish and troubled loses her grasp on her family’s love by her parent’s divorce, her mother’s alcoholism and her father’s remarriage. Emily’s alcohol abuse, drug use, promiscuity and, finally, teen pregnancy nearly cause a permanent breach in the family.
I’m not going to tell you that at page 101 it suddenly becomes great literature – it doesn’t – but it is an acceptable chick lit book good for a few mindless days of reading. You will likely figure out the ending (by page 120) but if you are looking for an emotional love story about a marriage with teens and drama, you will like Another Piece of My Heart.
Our book club received copies to review and we really enjoyed it - blended families always have their challenges and this was no exception. Thanks to Jane Green & her publisher! B & B Club
We had a pretty strong reaction- at times the book seemed realistic but when we explored, it reminded us that events like those that happened in the book do happen even though the situation with the biological mother cutting herself off completely seemed unrealistic.
Predictable. It had it\'s moments. Having a blended family can be a challenge for most. It can be very difficult to blend families with teenage daughters.
Found myself not being able to put it down
