The description written for the book was very misleading. I wouldn't recommend this book.

A picture of the African American and white worlds interacting in the south in the 50s. The characters are ripe for discussion

"Beautifully written, with complex characters" by [email protected] (see profile) 08/30/18

Initially i had some difficulty with the writing, tending to skim over rambling backstories inserted in the middle of a paragraph but once you get used to the rhythm of the writing, you’ll fall in love with it. This is great literary fiction with characters that are fleshed out. Love and loss plays out against the backdrop of 1950’s Mississippi.
