I enjoyed the quotations presented in the sidebars. And that's about all.
Too many personal stories that were incredibly boring made a tough read for me.The author "became too personal" with the reader. Was this a memoir or a true confessions book? Rambling on and on with lists of boring to do lists. And she's supposed to be a professional person? I pity her poor clients.
The writing style was simplistic and reductionistic.I didn't care for the folksy "down on the farm" blather.
Don't waste valuable time reading this book. There are too many books of good quality out there just waiting for the intelligent reader to enjoy.
Many of the themes in the book were good - but the author used the theme of "turing to God" to help one through their transitions. Turning to God wasn't going to help me with Breast Cancer and two mastectomies - I turned to my onocologist and my surgeon. Turning to God isn't going to help me in my marriage that has fallen apart after 31 years.
But - if you are one of those that feel that God is the only pathway, then this is the book for you. I am not a powerless person that needs that kind of help. I need practical solutions to everyday problems, advice on new ways of looking at things, creative solutions to transitions.
For a certain group of people, this would be a perfect book. For me it wasn't. I thought it was a little prophetic that the book on transitions appears while I was transitioning from two breast no no breats - but the help was not there for me.
