Delves deep into race, immigration, corruption in Africa while masquerading as a novel about a high school sweetheart couple and their journey back to one another after their paths diverge in adult life. Ambitious in scope and setting, insightful rendition of life as an immigrant or minority (or outsider) in a foreign country - topical with consideration to recent US immigration policy. Easy prose but lengthy read
