Very funny, great for a good laugh and a fun discussion. A good pick after a serious read.
I thought the book was well written, and very very funny. Handler really knows how to get your attention and keep you reading. I couldn't put the book down once I started reading, I just wanted to know more and more and I really laughed hard at many of the stories she told. I would recommend this book to anyone.
I've read "The Vodka Book", and this was nearly as funny, though the content was obviously much more pointed. Like in her other book, the stories that include her family are BY FAR the funniest. Sure, she makes terrible choices, drinks too much, spends too much time in bed with strangers, but she's a comedian and she turns those terrible nights into some pretty funny tales. I'd LOVE to just read stories she tells about her dad and sisters...
I couldn't even bring myself to finish this book. I really enjoy Chelsea Handler's dry sense of humor and comedic timing, but these stories are probably a lot funnier in a bar situation, straight from the horses mouth. Her sex/drugs/boozey romps came off as pathetic and narcissistic. More of a cautionary tale than a a comedy of errors.
Overall, not the most intellectually stimulating book. However, it did leave to some fun discussion and a lot of laughs. This was a nice break from all the serious selections that are our usual book club picks.
This was such a funny book I couldn't put it down. The way she tells these stories is just hilarious! And the stories about her family will have you cracking up. Don't miss this one!
It just wasn't as funny as I was hoping for.
