My biggest takeaway from the book is the clear distinctions between the mainstream white feminism that sought to demand validation and equal rights for mostly white women and hood feminism that was forgotten and which considers EVERY woman and every person for that matter. Hood feminism covers what feminists should consider for a holistic & sustainable effort in their work. This book highlights how mainstream feminism can unite with the marginalized by offering their resources and using their power & privilege to understand & address racism, intersectionality, gun violence (domestic & community violence, hunger (poverty & equity), rape culture, patriarchy ills, racial issues related to eating disorders, victim centric approaches, fierce energy fetishes, assimilation & acculturation, survival as a religion, fear & feminism, incarcerated women of color, LGBTQIA, right to vote for all women, education - racial discrimination & bullying by teachers, housing - redlining, gentrification, homelessness, reproductive justice, eugenics & maternal mortality / parenting while marginalized - over policing in communities, & overall transition from allies to accomplices through anger that forces action. For the power to harm other women and the world rest with women too. So women have got to DO THE WORK if we consider ourselves feminists and want to make real change! Thanks to Mikki Kendall! ???? #WeAllShouldBeFeminist #FeminismForAll #HoodFeminism ... if you’re not a feminist for the hood / the marginalized / for all women, then you’re not feminist!
