I found this uncomfortable to read. Holden lacked self confidence, was spoiled and self centered. He wanted to be grown up but couldn’t deal with grown up situations. He wanted to preserve the innocence of childhood. Realized he should have enjoyed things and people he complained about. He had guilt and grief over his brother’s death. He seemed to be in a lot pain and filled with cynicism. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to hug him or hate him.
