The book was intersting because it tries to get behind the feelings of a young man with a facial disformity and help the reader understand his feelings. This is a YA book and just like many of them tries to teach a lesson, but I did find the story interesting but not inspiring. The book switches points of view often and I wish it spoke through one voice.
I must read for everyone.. ..very moving..
Should be required reading for all Jr. High/High School students. Also reminds everyone that kindness is always appropriate.
I loved this book! The characters stay with you long after you have finished reading. This book made me laugh and cry with Auggie. Toward the end there were a few chapters where I could foresee what was going to happen, but I didn't care. I cheered for him the whole way through!
The book is very inspiring and a great book for any bookclub.
Loved it! Great reading club book and appropriate for all ages
this is a great book. I think all school should have to read this
Really a beautiful story. A very quick read!
written for young adults and a great book for 12-14 year olds, all ages will like this book. lessons about friendship, seeing beyond what is on the surface and family. I wish everyone met an Auggie in their life - I cannot wait to share this book with my teenager.
I loved this Book. I think it should be required reading for all sutudents.
Interesting but a little to happily ever after - good for the younger crowd to which it is aimed. I felt that it was a little unrealistic in how real kids would act / react. Excellent points of view from the sister.
When a child with a deformity attends a new school, how will the other students accept him? This was a beautiful story of how adults and children grow and develop love and friendship through the heartache of Auggie and his experiences dealing with the teasing and bullying caused by his facial deformities. A must read for everyone.
Wonder is Wonderful! Loved this book! One of the best books I have read this year. Great read for any age. Do not miss this one.
Our community picks a \"read\" each year. Fox Cities Reads this year was \"Wonder\" so our book club chose it as our monthly selection as well. We agreed the teens were universal, poignant and insightful. Terrific book for all ages!
Mourn club enjoyed both reading and discussing wonder. We had great discussions around being right versus being kind. We recommend this book to readers of all ages.
Quick & easy read. I liked how it was organized into chapters with each person's point of view.
We had a very good discussion about the book and author. Many parallels to life and other situations one has to deal with.
This author has a knack for making it easy for the reader to view the world from the eyes of her characters. As a result, this book is eye-opening, offering different perspectives and allowing the reader to see varying situations through multiple views. Not only is this a good book for adults, but it would be eye opening for young adults and tweens as well.
I loved the way the book was written and enjoyed viewing everyone\'s insight on the matter.
We all gave it a five. That has never happened before. I felt this was a special book. Different than any other book. Told from different points of view. Many important themes for kids and adults.
We all enjoyed this book. It stays with you well after you have turned the last page.
Read this to my 3rd grader. Sparked many great conversations. Made me think about my stance in similar situations, now as the adult. Great book!
A great book about kindness. Extremely inspiring. Everyone should read!!!
Auggie is a fifth grader entering a mainstream school for the first time after being homeschooled all of his life. He was born with a terrible facial deformity, has had numerous surgeries but is normal in every other way. Each segment of the book is told by a different character, giving their perspective on Auggie's
situation. As you can imagine there are many trials and tribulations that he must face. The theme of the book is kindness and how we must be kinder than necessary.
While I loved this book i feel it really is a young adult story and would not make a good bookclub choice.
This book captured what it is like to grow up "different" and how the world around reacts to someone with physical deformities. It focuses on fifth grade students and their ways of dealing with Auggie, the new student. It also showcases a supportive family, as well as some of the parents of Auggie's classmates, and the school personnel. I like that it the story is told from several points of view. It is a great book for adolescents, but our book group enjoyed it as well.
Kindness- that is all. This book was incredibly moving.
P.48 " When given the choice between being right or being kind. Choose kind."
Love the theme; I always tell my girls, if you can be anything be kind.
We rated this as a children's book. Not realistic, but it may help kids understand a little about bullying and kindness. The book also dealt with the sister not being in the spotlight for most of her childhood.
Had my children read it and now we canâ??t wait to see the movie!
This book gave me so many feels. The different narrators added to the depth of the reading experience. I feel like the book had plenty of lessons for adults to call to my mind, such as be kinder than is necessary. I think it should be required reading for middle school!
