"Sometimes I Lie - A Killer of a Thriller" by nbaker (see profile) 08/24/17

My goal was to read 45 books this year and I can’t believe that I ended up with this book being my 45th. Words cannot begin to explain the range of emotions I felt while listening to this audio book. The audio version was fabulous as the narrator gave such human feeling and emotion to each sentence. I may have received an ARC audio version of this story but as soon as it hits the stands you can count on it that I’ll have a hardback copy sitting in my library.

Amber begins this story with three small sentences and pay close attention to all three: 1) I am in a coma; 2) My husband doesn’t love me anymore; and (3) Sometimes I lie. Now I ask you, how can you go wrong with a book that starts like that?

The chapters pass back and forth as fast and with as much tension and drama as a tennis match between Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe. There were times I had to go back and listen to past chapters to make sure I hadn’t missed something or just replay sections to make sure I just heard what I thought my brain told me. I’m having trouble finding the appropriate word to describe this story – Eerie? Mind blowing? Creepy? This was clearly one of the best psychological thrillers I have read in a really long time.

Grab a shovel and be prepared to be here awhile. The truth is all in there, but like a hidden treasure, sometimes you have to dig for it. Don’t be fooled by what you see or what you hear because sometimes people lie.

Wow. Once the players have been established it is a "what just happened" scenario. It made me question everything I thought I knew. Very well done.

The title says it all. I didn't see the twist at the end, and it skewed all my theories about who was the true villain of this piece. A perfect pick for a summer read or vacation. You will keep turning pages until finished.
