Easy read. The characters interesting. Not too many that you lose track of them. A little more development would make them more dimensional. Characters may seem like actors in a movie rather than “real” at times. Some aspects not realistic (e.g. a parent removing the clothing from a child who suddenly died a rather gruesome death) But a book doesn’t have to be totally realistic to be enjoyable. Not a book I thought too much about after I read it but enjoyed it very much while reading it. Good book for discussion on how people change or react in an emergency, devastating event, trauma.

This book was an easy read, but after the read is over is when the real book hits home. This novel forces you to examine your inner self, and challenges you to be better under the worst possible scenario. The characters are real and raw. The narrator a young girl with youthful inexperience. Life is certainly not fair and this book is a swift reminder of that. Yet, somehow, at the end you find yourself holding on to the story and thinking and thinking and thinking. For better or worse.
