Calvin is a senior who discovers he has schizophrenia and sees a delusional Hobbes from the comic strip Calvin and Hobbes. Calvin believes he has become Calvin the comic strip character since he was born on the day the comic strip ended. He has a real life crush on a neighbor named Susie just like Calvin in the comic strip. Susie and Calvin escape from the hospital and go on a hiking trip across frozen Lake Erie meeting many different characters along the way and discovering the meaning of life. A touching story with a little romance. Hobbs is charming and funny throughout the novel. No swearing. Not a lot of drama. I enjoyed reading it. It's not my usual style book and was a fast read.
