This is a dreadful, tedious and salacious book purporting to be an historical account. The main theme describes lurid details of early Catholic popes. The chapter on Magellan was somewhat more interesting.
There are many inaccuracies and countless lists of names -- 8, 10, even 28 in one paragraph.
Don't be seduced by the author's fame. (His Churchill books were excellent).
