I agree with most of the reviewers I have read, the book has a Dickensian air about it, is filled with a wide variety of interesting characters, and does an excellent job of illuminating how the .one of a genius works. What I find particularly fascinating is the keen observational and perceptive skills of the author. He interviewed a great many musicians and researched even more. With this in mind we must consider what we know now that he did not know then. The book was most likely written in 1980s and was published in 1993. The research on Aspbergers did not begin to enter the public sphere of general knowledge till the late 1990s and early 2000s. We know now that many musicians exhibit characteristics of this condition. Nowhere have I read of this point being made but I can't stop pondering this. With this in mind and also the complexity of so many characters in the book could lead to some interesting and lively discussions.
