A rare look at WWI life in the eyes of a Jewish immigrant family in England. It is written as a memoir, which allows the author to create images of his experience and what he saw during the time of his young life. I am not sure of accuracy however, it does hold ones attention during the first half of the book in the struggles of getting to school without getting beaten up.

Well worth the read. It is insightful and really shows the struggles between religions. A beautiful story of a mother who never gave up to provide all she could for her children.

Story of the ghetto in England that is Jewish on one side and Christian on the other. The author is the 4 year old narrator of the story as he grows on this street. The characters are real and personal to the reader. This is a unique perspective for the time period. Worth the read.
