An amazingly researched biography, and a wonderful insights into the mind and process of a writer, as well as a cultural and class time capsule. Highly recommend.
The Biographer of this book might have been even more interesting than the person he wrote the biography about...Gerald Clarke gives amazing insights into the struggles and life of a writer, or creator of written materials. The book also provided interesting insights into many very complicated lives and lifestyles. It was interesting to discover hetrosexuals and homosexuals have so much in commom, in terms of their overall power struggles and internal dynamics.
