The book was very detailed and historic. It was interesting and engaging. A longer read, but well worth staying with. I was caught up in the battles, lifestyles and the history of the Incas, and the Spanish conquistadors who came to "Serve God, The King and get rich!"

Our book club meeting included Peruvian national dishes, desserts and Pisco Sour drinks. We had a call in from the author Kim MacQuarrie which was excellent. We were able to gain more insight into his experience and knowledge.

"The Last Days of the Incas" is one of the best books I have read in the last five years--and I read a lot. Extremely well written; an incredible epic story; characters that literally rise up and walk off the pages. How did 168 conquistadors conquer an empire of 10 million? You will find out in these pages--will meet fascinating characters like Francisco Pizarro and the Inca emperor, Atahulpa, and will learn a great deal about the Inca Empire to boot. A big book--but nevertheless a fast read--I was glued to my seat the entire time. This book will make you want to go to Peru and Machu Picchu on the next available flight!

A wonderfully researched and detailed account of the Spanish settlement of Peru that somehow reads like a riveting page turner. It's rare that I can race through a well-researched and documented book so quickly. Reads like a serial drama. Fast paced and entertaining. Tells the story of the Spanish conquest and the Inca resistance. Fascinating.
