"The House of Mondavi, The Rise and fall of an American Wine Dynasty" by cascadesjn (see profile) 05/01/09

I was initialy drawn in by the prologue. The scene and characters were crystal clear. The account of the Mondavi family and the establishment of its wine-making dynasty is remarkable. The author, Julia Flynn Siler, had taken 500 hours of interviews and the examination of tens of thousands of pages of documents to produce a work that is as full of love, jealousy, infidelity and shattered friendships as any soap opera. Throughout the read you are introduced to decades of business success and failure, power struggles and the telling of the rich history of the NAPA Valley wine making kingdoms. You will definately feel the urge to sip a famous California wine as you read about its creation. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in family drama and would like an understanding of how american business models work.
