"Some of the story was quite predictable" by BobbiLSmith (see profile) 03/25/09

I found it an easy read, nothing heavy or heady. We did have discussion about it, though no one loved it.

"Enjoyable, entertaining and thought provoking" by Mary60 (see profile) 03/25/09

I enjoyed the book because I thought the professor handled his "retirement" with grace and dignity while controlling the process, even though it wasn't his choice. It was interesting how they wove the story from present to past which allowed the author to develop the characters as well as the story.

"Published author Canaris gets hired as a writing professor at a small Ohio college. However, after 30 years there, he fails to publish anything new. Although claiming to be working on a book, nickna" by belljan (see profile) 03/25/09

The book is witty and gripping and lends itself a diverse book club discussion. Some will love the twists and turns while others will prefer a more linear structure.

It continually challenges the social norm of professional success.
