This is a really quirky, compelling tale of two misfit anti-hero brothers who roam the gold rush-era west on a journey to carry out their assassin-for-hire missions. The family history and dynamic of the two brothers is very well fleshed out and both of the brothers are so interesting and real that you almost feel like you have met them somewhere before. One of the main characters continually finds himself questioning the direction of his life and his ethical choices along the way. A very interesting read.

Looked at this novel many times before I made the purchase. It was well worth it! It's a twisted, dark, entertaining tale! The characters were great, and the plot kept me reading page after page. Highly recommend it!

The Sisters Brothers was a very interesting foray into the world of the wild west. The main characters were very interesting and DeWitt really looked into the psychological reasons that drove the brothers to do what they did. He also created a very interesting character in Hermit Kermit Warm. The only complaints that members of my book club had was that there were still some stock characters (though we agreed that this was probably an homage to the classic western) and that the writing style was a bit simplistic. However, this also was probably because the narrator of the book (Eli Sisters) was a simple guy. It was also a very fast read.

This was a fun, easy read. Reminded me of some of the Western shows I watched on TV in the 60's.
