I was expecting a bit more realistic story but this one didn't seem plausible to me. A woman buys a run down farmhouse on a whim and decides to move into it for the summer. Along the way, she makes some interesting friends and gets to spend some unplanned time with her 2 year old nephew that doesn't speak english. The book kept my interest due primarily to the varied unique characters and multitude of sub-stories, but the overall story line seemed to unrealistic to me.
The book was overall liked by most of us in the book club. We have a wide age range of members and it was fun to get the different comments from different ages. This book is about a flower child in a midlife crisis. The main negative comment by a few of us was that there were some undertones of possible infidelity which did not sit well with some.
As a 60's person I could identify with some of her thoughts and experiences. Some of the characters were fun and interesting. I am glad I read it however it is not a happy story which I think we thought as a book club it would be.
