nce upon a time a small county district attorney lead a charmed life. He even had a murder case that he won easily, and there was talk of him being elected to congress. But tragedy struck, everything came undone and he was politely invited to go live elsewhere alone. Dredging bottom, he stumbles into the orbit of a man who makes barbecue sauce and helps people who need it. There are many people around that he has helped. They form a community of sorts. The attorney spends the better part of a year recovering from his downfall. In the process, he rebuilds himself into a different person. This charming book is the story of his healing. It is slow and patient, but doesn't drag. The story unfolds organically, with all the spurts and drags of real life.
