Thought provoking regarding views of the mentally disabled in society's recent past. Members of the book club found the plot contrived by the author. When the author showed us rather than told us how characters felt the writing was wonderful. However the middle of the book rather dragged us along. The book lent itself to a good discussion regarding main streaming children into the public school system and how our views have changed over the years for the mentally disabled.
