A very popular choice. The book reads like butter. We enjoyed it as much as Crow Lake. Lawson is a master of characterization. She captures time and place with specificity and also with universality.

I liked the writing style. Just a great easy book to read, I cannot wait to read her other book.

If this book were a girl, everybody would say she's nice. It's an accessible, likable book - the kind you give to your Mom. The best part is the sense of time and place the author gives you - she has a gift for atmosphere and detail.
