Parts of the book are very interesting, that dealing with the forgotten relative. Other parts are slow and raise questions that are not fully answered. Bot overall it was a good book.

I enjoyed this book. I thought the beginning was a little slow. After Lucy gets "home" is when I really started to like the book. I found it had many interesting facts, plus a great family history. I am recommending this book to my book club next Tuesday.

This book kept many of our readers up at night and not because the story was so engrossing, but because we all had trouble following the plot, the characters and their purpose. The book left so many unanswered questions and most all agreed the characters were without depth. Everyone lived in "The Lake of Dreams" but their entire lives appears to be unfilled dreams and unattainable wishes. Our club agreed perhaps we had read too many Karen White books and few match up to her writing technique - this one included. The weaving of the past and present in this story found many loose threads and frayed edges.

Lucy has finally come home years after the drowning death of her father. She's at a crossroads in her own life, when she discovers that the family story she has always known holds secrets. She begins to investigate her history discovering ties to stained glass windows, woman's suffragette movement, and just maybe the key to her future.

This was a quick read, and you could tell that Edwards put a lot of thought into the unfolding of the plot. Parts of the end are a bit rushed, there are a couple of 2 dimensional characters, and Lucy's ultimate journey doesn't actually show a lot of growth in the end. Still this highlights some interesting history, and I raced to the ultimately satisfying ending.
